Blacktrack’s first cafe racer, the BT-01, based on a Honda CX500.
In 2015, Sacha Lakic found it dismantled in a friend’s garage. The unique engine configuration immediately captivated him, and he set himself the goal of transforming this machine into a stylish, modernised café racer.
It came 2nd in Bike EXIF’s Top 10 cafe racers of 2015 list.
The Honda CX500 was already popular with bikers for its robustness, but Sacha Lakic was attracted by its unique engine layout and chassis design, which give a lightweight look ideal for a café racer. What’s more, its V-twin engine was full of character, with a pleasant sound that echoed the golden age of sports bikes.
For its third anniversary, Blacktrack is presenting the BT-01 Carbon, a special version of its original Café Racer. This model retains the features of the original BT-01, but features a carbon-fibre body painted in BlackTrack’s signature colours: red and black.
The fuel tank
Very similar to the original shape of the CX500, the BT-01’s fuel tank has a slight forward slope on the cafe racer that sets it apart.
The seat
The seat features non-slip padding and cinnabar-red stitching that contrasts with the pure black of the seat leather. What’s more, it reveals the bike’s raw, unadorned bodywork – a true work of engineering.
The clip-on handlebars
The clip-on handlebars and controls, aligned with the single seat, add a sporty touch to the BT-01. These details give you total control and an unrivalled driving experience.

Featuring discreet lighting, side-by-side gauges and a hand-crafted exhaust system, every element is carefully painted, polished or powder-coated, with touches of Blacktrack Red brought to the smallest details.
Lighter
For performance enthusiasts, the BT-01 offers an incomparable driving experience. It is significantly lighter than its Honda base, which means maximum driving pleasure while retaining a sleek design.
